All students who receive the ESL Program Specialist Certificate must first obtain Instructional I Certification. This course should be taken in the last semester of a student’s ESL certificate program. The course offers a chance for students to synthesize their learning about ELLs, to fine tune a philosophy of education for English Language Learners, and to plan and implement lessons that are differentiated, integrated across language skills and content areas, and that include meaningful assessment.
